Aussie Beef Mates Darling Downs Tour

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise, in partnership with Meat and Livestock Australia, are excited to deliver the Darling Downs Beef Mates initiative as part of the Queensland Government’s Food and Fibre to Market (FF2M) – Industry Partnerships Program.

As part of the program, we are welcoming seven international chefs to our region who will share insider knowledge about the red meat landscape in the US. Local red meat producers are invited to expand their network and gain understanding of similarities and differences between Australia and the US at a meat and greet.

Darling Downs beef will take centre stage over a week as international chefs converge in Toowoomba as part of the Darling Downs Beef Mates delegation between 27 August – 1 September. The delegation will be immersed in the Darling Downs beef industry from paddock-to-plate. The jam-packed week will see the Beef Mates visit farms, processing plants and restaurants in the state’s beef capital region. They will also participate in a beef masterclass where they’ll explore topics including butchery, Meat Standards Australia, food safety and integrity systems.

Throughout the week, the Aussie Beef Mates will also share ideas on innovative beef uses and network with stakeholders within the supply chain. Importantly, they will learn from each other as they create beef dishes inspired by regional flavours.
