Small business to stake big claims at AccessChina'16
“No matter what size, if you’re a producer or supplier there’s serious opportunity for you in China”.
This is the advice of China based Australian Entrepreneur Kalo Wilson who will be one of the many inspiring speakers at the upcoming Toowoomba & Surat Basin Enterprise’s AccessChina ’16 Premium Business Delegation to China.
“I have been in China for some time now (3 years) and this is the first time I’ve seen this amount of interest in bringing people here,” Mr Wilson said.
“It’s very exciting!”.
“I can’t underestimate how much of a great opportunity AccessChina is for Australian businesses to not just learn how things work in China but the opportunity to start forming relationships”.
Co-founder of Bon App, the most popular bi-lingual food app in Shanghai, Mr Wilson has learnt first-hand the importance of relationship building but with one very key ingredient.
“The biggest thing here (China) is not just about forming business relationships but friendships. This is a very big thing and you need to keep that in mind”.
Mr Wilson says he is genuinely excited about the prospect of helping Australian businesses through AccesChina’16 and stresses that real opportunities exist for smaller players along with the big ones.
Exposing current and evolving consumer trends will be a focus of his presentation that will delve deeply into his practical experience from the viewpoint of his own words “until you’ve been here and until you’ve had the chance to work closely here, you don’t realise how it actually works”.
“I really want to show people the opportunities for the smaller players. If you’re a producer/supplier there’s opportunity here for you – not just the big players,” Mr Wilson said.
The comments have been welcomed by TSBE's CEO for their Food Leaders Australia initiative, Ben Lyons who has been addressing business communities on this very matter.
“AccessChina will allow Australians from all business walks-of-life to gain a thorough understanding of their products value in this ever growing market,” Mr Lyons said.
“It’s a very simple science – China needs and wants quality products and produce and we as Australian’s have something very unique and special which.”
A native of Byron Bay, Mr Wilson spent 11 years working in the IT industry in Melbourne before helping to found Bon App.
Bon App is a bilingual platform for user generated restaurant content that now connects food lovers across Shanghai, Beijing and Singapore.
For those heading to AccessChina’16 make sure you download it before you land!
Chapters continue to be written in the incredible success story of Bon App with the functions expanding into the culinary connection of people. The “Meet” feature allows people to join foodies with similar tastes, at restaurants for exclusive deals.
TSBE’s AccessChina’16 delegation will take more than 200 businesses to Shanghai, China, for a five-day program aimed at activating opportunities in agriculture, health and aged care, tourism, mining and resources, education and sustainable design and manufacturing.
The meticulously planned history making event is designed to deliver significant return on investment through exposure to understanding the Chinese opportunity for business, gaining latest industry incites from world class speakers, increasing Chinese business networks, gaining backstage access to some of China’s most renowned companies and building relationships with fellow delegates.
Places are still available for the event to be held from 23rd to 28th October, 2016.
