Toowoomba secures key connectivity recognition

Toowoomba featured strongly as a regional capital with strong connectivity in comments made by Queensland Treasurer David Janetzki at the Bush Summit in Toowoomba today.

The Treasurer confirmed that getting Inland Rail to Toowoomba and fixing the Bremer Bridge at Ipswich are priorities that must be addressed to ensure freight reliability for the Toowoomba region.

His comments at today’s Bush Summit in Toowoomba, followed Premier David Crisafulli highlighting the city’s immense opportunities as a Queensland’s leading regional capital.

TSBE Executive Director, Dr John McVeigh said Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise has long advocated for these vital upgrades.

“Recognition of these priorities represent significant progress for our region’s advocacy and for the future growth of Southwest Queensland,” Dr McVeigh said.

“This is a critical step forward.

“Toowoomba’s economy, industries and community rely on seamless connectivity to Brisbane and beyond.

“Today’s announcements validate years of advocacy and confirms Toowoomba’s role as a regional capital driving national productivity.”
