Join TSBE at our upcoming SQ Export Hub Dinner event sponsored by Western Union Business Solutions.

This dinner is a networking session for the oil, gas and energy resources and food & agribusiness sectors who are looking to capture new business opportunities. It is also relevant for any local business interested in valuable insights about our regional economy.

The keynote speaker is the Currency Strategist – APAC for Western Union Business Solutions with over 15 years’ experience in the financial services, Steven Dooley.

Originally covering markets as a journalist, Steven later worked as an investment specialist at global fund manager Aviva Investors and then worked as head of trading at research house Australian Stock Report.

Steven makes regular TV appearances including AusBiz Network, Sky News and ABC Lateline. Steven has written columns for wide range of publications, including Melbourne’s Herald Sun, Singapore’s Business Times and the Hong Kong Economic Journal.

Financial markets will experience greater volatility in 2022 as rising inflation and interest rate increases impact on sentiment. Steven will be discussing how best to take advantage of the current financial market. He’ll explore the growth profile around the region and ways local businesses can benefit.

Steven will be discussing:

  • How has inflation changed over the last year and have central banks made a massive policy mistake by waiting too long to raise rates?
  • What strategies can be used to take advantage of market volatility?
  • What’s driving the rise in commodity prices – is it just the Ukraine crisis? Will the rise in commodity prices be longer-lasting?
  • Across Asia, which markets have the most potential in 2022?

With global growth considerably slower, but central banks holding on interest rates, uncertainty may continue for some time yet. For businesses with international exposure, this uncertainty can create headaches. But some simple tricks can make managing the risks in financial markets less dangerous – and can even make it easier to take advantage of potential market opportunities.
