Join TSBE’s SQ Export Hub at our upcoming A-UK Free Trade Agreement Breakfast Briefing sponsored by Bolloré Logistics on Wednesday 25 May.

Australia’s recently signed Free Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom, marks a once in a generational deal for Australia and an incredibly significant moment in the nation’s relationship with the UK.

Being the first FTA signed since Brexit, the Australia-UK FTA contains commercially significant commitments that will strengthen diversification and COVID-19 recovery for both countries. The Australia-UK FTA is about creating new export opportunities and jobs for business by eliminating tariffs on over 99 per cent of Australian goods exports to the UK.

TSBE’s Southern Queensland Innovation in Export Hub (SQ Export Hub) will be hosting a public briefing on the new FTA, with guest presentations by representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Austrade and British Consulate General Brisbane.

If you are a tech entrepreneur and innovator, primary producer or small to medium enterprise wanting to explore new market opportunities in the United Kingdom, then this breakfast is for you.

This newly signed FTA delivers tangible outcomes for:

  • Australian technological star-ups, innovators, and consumers by enhancing digital trade across all sectors whilst ensuring world leading standards for personal data protection.
  • SME’s by explicitly recognizing the importance and challenges of establishing export markets abroad whilst eliminating tariffs and red tape that slows trade down.
  • Agricultural producers by removing tariffs associated with beef, sheep meat, sugar, rice and dairy exports whilst promoting Australia’s quality of produce.

The event will feature a high-level address by Australia’s Chief Negotiator Elisabeth Bowes, Consul General for Queensland & Northern Territory and Director of Trade Australia & New Zealand Joanne Freeman and Austrade’s Director - Investment, Agribusiness & Food Centre of Excellence Cheryl Stanilewicz.

This esteemed line up of guest presenters will be on hand for businesses in the room to ask specific in market questions and will cover an in-depth analysis of opportunities relevant to the three focus chapters.

The Toowoomba, Western Downs and Maranoa region is home to an assortment of businesses that are invited to attend this briefing to hear what opportunities are available for SME’s, tech entrepreneurs and innovators and the food industry.
