Businesses announced as the next Emerging Exporters

Shell’s QGC Emerging Exporters Program, delivered by TSBE’s Food Leaders Australia, have announced their 2020 cohort of businesses, ready to make inroads into new markets.

The six successful businesses are Coggan Farming, Devon Court Stud, Downs Sheet Metal & Janke, Fraser Valuers, Morrissey & Co Pty Ltd and Rangeland Quality Meats.

TSBE Export Manager, Justin Heaven, said the exceptional quality of businesses participating in the 2020 program provided an exciting opportunity to further diversify the region and expand supply of products into new export markets.

With unprecedented change in global supply chains recently and a shift in consumer purchasing patterns, Shell’s QGC Emerging Exporters Program is well placed to assist local agribusinesses in the Western Downs re-assess current supply-chains and evaluate the importance of diversification across all markets.

As a region we are well placed to take advantage of this change globally, with our exceptional reputation as a clean, green, sustainable food production area and excellent manufacturing capability across agriculture.

“This 2020 intake represents the agricultural diversity within the Western Downs.”

“We are optimistic for the 2020 participants to grow their business, supported by Shell’s QGC Emerging Exporters Program,” said Mr Heaven.

The Emerging Exporters Program will work with these companies to start their export journey and provide connection to future opportunities.

The businesses will participate in a structured workshop program tailored to provide guidance in developing the businesses ready for export.

The program will connect participants with the service and industry specialists required and provide a greater understanding of the requirements across all areas of their business.

The training provides help with business planning, export market strategy and market research for participants in target markets.

The support provided through the program enables local agribusinesses to explore new markets, whether that be Asia or beyond.

Previous cohort participants have been successful in breaking into the international export market.

“We’ve seen participants like Four Daughters Premium Black Angus successfully export to China and Riverbend Pork Group export to markets in Asia,” said Mr Heaven.

Shell’s QGC Emerging Exporter Ambassador Ryan Dreibelbis said the program continues to contribute to the region’s economic development, working with the community to diversify local economies.

“Emerging Exporters has always existed to help businesses in the Western Downs navigate the complexities of export and ready them for new opportunities,” said Mr Dreibelbis.

“I can’t think of a better time to have direct support and access to experts through the program than now.”
