Businesses urged to prepare workforce for influenza season

In the current COVID-19 environment, the Government and health experts have advised the community to get the flu vaccine to help reduce the strain on the healthcare system this flu season, and businesses can do their part to support their employees’ health.

Platinum Health Group Business Manager, Tammy Dickeson, said this year it is more important than ever to receive the flu shot.

“Every year, we encourage our patients to roll up their sleeves and protect themselves against the flu, and this year is more important than ever.”

“We have seen a substantial increase in the uptake of the flu vaccine this year, with a number of patients receiving it for the very first time,” said Ms Dickeson.

Whilst influenza vaccine will not prevent coronavirus infection it can reduce the severity and spread of influenza, which may make a person more susceptible to other respiratory illnesses like coronavirus.

While locals are being urged to stay home as much as possible, it is important to look after your health.

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) Health General Manager, Jaden Frame, said businesses like Platinum Health Group are offering their services to organise workplace vaccination programs with local businesses and are understanding that many employees are working from home.

“Platinum Health Group is able to help you coordinate flu vaccines for your staff and have a number of clinics open.”

“This is a great opportunity to not only protect your staff against the flu but also support local GPs as small businesses,” said Mr Frame.
