Leading speakers secured for Major Project Pipeline evening in Downs

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) in partnership with Western Downs Regional Council has secured an impressive line-up of industry-leading speakers from across the energy sector to present at the upcoming Major Project Enterprise Evening in Chinchilla on April 18. A number of industry site tours are also planned for the following morning, April 19, to give attendees an up-close look at some of the projects.
 

TSBE Supply Chain general manager, Lance MacManus, said it is a major coup to secure such high calibre speakers and to have the addition of site visits to complement the two-day event.
 

“We have worked with Western Downs Regional Council to secure eight leaders in the energy sector who will share their insights into major energy projects  in the Western Downs as part of the special extended enterprise evening event.

“Not many people realise we have 10 coal and gas-fired power stations that not only provide key infrastructure to build our grid capability but also support further growth of the emerging renewable energy industry. This rapidly emerging sector is also creating more jobs for our region,” Mr. MacManus said.
 

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor, Cr Paul McVeigh is a major supporter of the Enterprise Evening that will be taking place in Chinchilla on April 18 and 19.
 

"Energy is one of the four pillars of the diverse Western Downs economy and we are currently experiencing our second surge in this sector with the renewables boom.” Cr McVeigh said.
 

“The Western Downs is 'Open for Business' and investors from Australia and overseas are choosing to bring their business here and take advantage of the ideal business conditions we have created.
 

"Our region has one of the lowest unemployment rates in regional Queensland and with thousands of jobs in the pipeline for approved renewables projects, as well as ongoing gas exploration and coal production, that is a trend I think we will see continuing.” Cr McVeigh concluded.

TSBE’s Major Project Pipeline confirmed speakers:

Tim Knill, AGL’s Construction Project Manager for the $820 million Coopers Gap Wind Farm Project, which is Australia’s largest renewable energy project, and has 14 years of experience in the development and delivery of renewable energy projects.
 

Andrew Snars, Santos’ Maranoa Regional Manager, who will present an overview of the GLNG project as the company continues to develop the Roma, Scotia, Fairview and Arcadia Valley fields in the Surat and Bowen Basins.
 

Rhys Turner, director of Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA), Australia’s primary trade association representing over 60 oil and gas explorers and producers, who between them produce 98 percent of all of Australia’s oil and gas.
 

Chris Way, Bridgeport Energy’s chief executive officer, who has more than 33 years’ experience in worldwide oil and gas upstream operations, production, and drilling, offshore and onshore.
 

Darren Stevenson, Project Director for QLD Assets, Senex Energy, an independent Australian oil and gas explorer with a 30-year history.
 

Peter Dewhurst, National Manager LNG Sales, Elgas, Australia’s largest marketer of LPG.
