Local renewable projects hot topic

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) hosted their recent Enterprise Breakfast in Chinchilla to talk about a range of new renewable projects and technologies.

Guests heard from APA who, with ARENA, have contracted Southern Queensland Gas to design, build and test a renewable methane demonstration project in Wallumbilla – the first of its kind for the region.

Warren Twist, Access and Approval Manager North East for APA, provided an overview of APA across Australia and renewables in the Western Downs.

TSBE CEO, Ali Davenport, said the presentation from APA provided an outlook to the future of renewable energy production across the region.

“It was great to have an overview around renewables and the role that APA can play in the future energy mix and how this can be produced in our region and distributed nationally,” said Ms Davenport.

Sterling & Wilson also spoke about the Western Downs Green Power Hub project, a large solar farm project near Chinchilla that is approaching the construction phase.

Once complete, this will be one of Australia's largest operating solar farms, helping the Western Downs to become the energy capital of Australia.

The sold out Enterprise Breakfast was held at Chinchilla RSL on November 13, 2020.
