Region invests in the future of Agtech

Over seventy business leaders attended a Meet Up at the AgTech & Logistics Hub on July 29.

The keynote speaker was Chris Murphy from Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) who discussed their national innovation activities.

GRDC is well and truly behind innovation in Agtech and will be mobilising a $50 million venture capital fund to support entrepreneurship in the grain sector.

Attendees also met the new Community Manager of the AgTech and Logistics Hub, Stephen Dummett.

Mr Dummett said the hub offers a great opportunity to be involved in developing Toowoomba’s growing Agtech industry.

“The evening was attended by a great cross-section of the Agtech ecosystem which bodes well for an industry led innovation hub,” said Mr Dummett.

“There was a very positive vibe throughout the evening which led to many connections for the team to follow up.”

“The speaker, Chris Murphy from GRDC, provided valuable insight into their activities in the Agtech space and demonstrated our collaborative approach to solving industry problems,” said Mr Dummett.

It is important for the AgTech ecosystem come together and build a strong, cohesive network in our region.

Owen Williams, Hub Manager of Agtech and Logistics Hub said, “technology is moving so quickly we need to continue to take the time to evaluate what we require to be successful, at the Agtech and Logistics Hub we want to help industry with these complicated decisions.”

“At the Hub we want to support industry, innovators and the investors to expediate the validation and deployment of solutions for challenges faced by the industry.”

“With many innovators in Queensland the Hub Concierge program has been busy joining the right innovators with key industry contacts to solve the challenges, sometimes it is just about joining the right people”.
