Skilled local industry helps Queensland reach new heights

Toowoomba’s construction sector is significantly contributing to the skyline of South East Queensland, with a pipeline of projects helping boost the economy.

Soon, contractors will be able to get to know the names and faces behind those businesses shaping Queensland through a new series of events hosted by Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE).

TSBE CEO, Ali Davenport said the idea for the ‘Contractor Connector’ series started to better connect people at a time when the industry is booming.

“There are so many exciting projects under construction in Toowoomba and South East Queensland at the moment, with TSBE always looking for new ways to help companies collaborate.”

“These regular events will create important networking opportunities and give a rare insight into the success stories within the sector,” said Ms Davenport.

The first Contractor Connector event will be held on May 27, and hear from Managing Director & Founder of McNab, Michael McNab.

“We take our relationship builder tagline very seriously, with over 9 out of 10 projects in Queensland from repeat clients and referrals”.

“Our staff and our subcontractor base are key here, so we invest a lot of time with them on the technical aspects of building, but also other areas like communication and creating a company culture that aligns with where we want to go over the coming years,” said Mr McNab.

McNab have a strong presence in the region, and are celebrating their 25th year in business.

Mr McNab will participate in a Q&A, discussing how he has grown such a successful business that is now one of the largest private construction companies in Australia, employing over 350 people.

Ms Davenport said the Contractor Connector series is a great opportunity to learn more about the construction industry, which is playing a vital role during the economic recovery from COVID-19.

“We’re encouraging anyone involved in the construction industry to come along to our first event at the Osbourne Hotel in the Fortitude Valley on May 27,” said Ms Davenport.

The event series is being sponsored by Master Hire who are excited to be involved in helping to connect contractors in the region with major opportunities.
