Sponsorship leads to success

It’s almost been three years since Western Union Business Solutions came on board as a Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise member, and it was thanks to a recent sponsorship opportunity that the doors opened for the organisation to partner with a major player.

It was August 2019 when Western Union Business Solutions put their hand up to sponsor the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise Southern Queensland Export Hub Dinner, a networking event for workers in the Oil, Gas and Energy Resource sectors and Food and Agribusiness sectors.

The evening aimed to capture the new export opportunities made available by the Southern Queensland Innovation Export Hub, with the night featuring keynote speaker, Currency Strategist for Western Union Business Solutions, Mr Steven Dooley.

As one of the world’s leading providers of cross-border business payments, Western Union Business Solutions are transforming how businesses can expand globally through one of the largest and most diverse payment networks in the world.

Western Union Business Solutions’ Business Development Manager for Queensland, Bodo Rose, said he was drawn to TSBE after viewing a local newspaper article, and says becoming a member has proven majorly beneficial.

“I originally came across Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise a number of years ago through Queensland Country Life, which featured a Food Leaders Australia article on Story Fresh. I touched base with the Agriculture General Manager and we spoke about membership opportunities, which I presented to Western Union Business Solutions,” said Mr Rose.

“Getting on board with TSBE has been fantastic for us. We have a strong relationship with the individual staff members who are wonderful people to work with and are strong advocates of ours. I’ve have even suggested to other organisations to get on board with TSBE as members.”

With Western Union Business Solutions’ employees coming in from across the country for the TSBE Southern Queensland Innovation Export Hub Dinner, Mr Rose said the sponsorship opportunity proved to be fruitful.

“On the back of the Southern Queensland Export Hub Dinner, which we sponsored, we have been able to provide assistance to a major commodities exporter. We have already started the process to secure 2020 sponsorship opportunities at TSBE event and are very keen to continue our close relationship with the organisation,” said Mr Rose.
