TSBE congratulates Senex on domestic gas tender win

Western Downs again proves itself to be the energy hub for Queensland and Australia with the latest announcement from Minister for State Development, Natural Resources and Mines, Dr Anthony Lynham.

The announcement that Queensland’s own Senex Energy has secured the tender to the Queensland Government’s domestic gas pilot project tender has been received enthusiastically across the region.

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise executive chairman Shane Charles said Senex has been operating in the region for some time now and has demonstrated that they are a fantastically capable company with a real enthusiasm to hire and buy locally whenever possible.

“This project is important for the region as Senex expects to spend in the vicinity of $200 million dollars to drill almost 100 well which will provide gas for the domestic market. This in turn will lead to 150 jobs,” Mr Charles said.

Senex intends to start work quickly and have plans to sign up domestic gas customers in early 2018 with first gas in 2019.  The project will be based in the Surat Basin between Wandoan and Miles.
