TSBE to further develop Political Leaders Series

March 14: Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise will reschedule the Political Leaders Series until mid-year.

Executive chairman Shane Charles said it was important to hear from all sides of politics, with the series opening the floor to all parties.

The April event will be rescheduled to include both Queensland Senator Pauline Hanson and One Nation state party leader Steve Dickson.

“We are working with the major political parties to finalise dates and involvement. We look forward to being able to advise the dates of the full series as soon as possible,” he said.

“This series is aimed at state-based issues in the lead up to the state election, and as such we consider it particularly important that the state leaders are involved.”

“Because this is a state forum it’s imperative we secure the One Nation state leader for Queensland Steve Dickson.”

“We have spoken with Senator Hanson’s team and will reschedule the event to include Mr Dickson.”

Mr Charles said the response from the Toowoomba community was that they would like greater involvement.

“The recent feedback we’ve had is that our members want to hear from all political leaders regarding how they are going to address the key issues for our region, and we look to give them an equal platform,” he said.

“To do this we will take questions from our members and the same questions will be answered by all parties across the series.”

“We thank the community and our members for sharing their feedback with us.”

Further details will be released.

March 13: Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise is launching a Political Leaders Series with One Nation Queensland Senator Pauline Hanson to speak at the inaugural event.

TSBE, as an independent economic development organisation, has launched the series to give business people the opportunity to hear directly from leaders across all political parties about their vision for regional Queensland and Australia.

With Queensland already in pre-election mode, TSBE is setting the scene by bringing key influencers to the region.

TSBE executive chairman Shane Charles said the political series would continue throughout the year to allow business people in the Toowoomba Region to hear from a range of voices and political parties.

“TSBE is apolitical and as such advocates to all political parties to drive investment, opportunity and growth,” he said.

“We have invited the leaders of all major parties in Queensland to headline future events.”

“With Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull having now visited our region twice this year, we know the Toowoomba and wider region is in the national spotlight for our strong economy and ongoing development.”

“We know Toowoomba and the Surat Basin region has a myriad of opportunities. We want to know in the lead up to a potential state election, what our major parties will do for our region. What is their vision for the region, and what can they do for us to make this wonderful part of the world in which we live even stronger.”

Senator Hanson, as senator for Queensland, has been travelling throughout the state listening to concerns of residents, and in recent times has spent time in the region at locations including Jandowae, Laidley, Oakey and of course Toowoomba.

A question and answer session will be held after the keynote address, with Senator Hanson speaking on her vision for regional Australia.

The lunch-time session will be held on April 13 from 11.30am, with the location to be disclosed closer to the date.
