LiveWell Australia, TSBE partnership sees focus on health and wellness in the workplace
Thanks to a partnership with LiveWell Australia, the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) team have undergone a 16-week program involving weekly sessions with the LiveWell team to encourage health and wellness in the workplace.
Based in Toowoomba, LiveWell provide innovative corporate health and wellness programs that maximise the energy, health and productivity of employees.
TSBE CEO Dr Ben Lyons said TSBE was committed to supporting local businesses and that LiveWell was a great example of a local company providing a vital service for regional businesses.
“The partnership with LiveWell has allowed TSBE to see first-hand the benefit innovative health programs have to offer, and ultimately the value they can give back to entire industries and our community,” Dr Lyons said.
“We want to be thought leaders in the region and promote opportunities for businesses across all areas of their operations – so the partnership with LiveWell has provided another way for us to do this.
“The feedback from the TSBE team has been overwhelmingly positive, and while we were already a pretty engaged bunch, our weekly sessions with LiveWell provided a chance for the team to all get together to focus on our health and have a good laugh in doing so.”
LiveWell Program Manager Bella Reynolds said the results at TSBE were exciting and replicate what has been achieved with other clients’ workplaces.
“100% of respondents from TSBE survey indicated that the LiveWell program had helped them make positive changes to their health,” said Ms Reynolds.
“This can provide businesses with an edge in today’s competitive times – employees empowered to self-managed their health and wellness are not just healthier and happier, but safer.”
The connection between health, happiness and productivity at work has increasingly gained traction in recent years.
With the cost of absenteeism in Australia an estimated $7 billion each year, and presenteeism – defined as not fully functioning at work because of a medical condition, costing the economy more than $37 billion each year, companies are starting to take note.
Studies have shown that well-designed wellness programs can deliver major benefits to companies, with an average rate of return of up to 5:1 for every dollar spent.
LiveWell are already gaining recognition for their work in the corporate health and wellness space for programs being rolled out in the Toowoomba region.
LiveWell’s successful implementation of a health and wellness program for employees at the New Acland Mine site in Oakey resulted in the New Acland Mine Live Well, Work Well Program being awarded the title for the Best Workplace Health and Wellbeing initiative at the 2015 Queensland Safe Work Awards.
