It is always great to ring in the new year with fresh starts and new beginnings.

With this in mind, we recently launched the inaugural LIVE Western Downs magazine in partnership with Western Downs Regional Council. The magazine explores the growing lifestyle that attracts families and businesses, while showcasing what a wonderful place the Western Downs is to live, work and play.

2019 is about supporting the continued growth of our region with a key focus on maintaining an adequate workforce. We will look at attracting and retaining skilled staff and are in the process of setting up a task force to help attract workers from other parts of Australia.

Transport and logistics are another key focus for TSBE with the Inland Rail project going full steam ahead. We will be working with ALC and ARA to bring a two day Inland Rail conference to Toowoomba in August focusing on the opportunities available for local businesses.

In early February a delegation of 16 Texan business leaders are visiting our region. If you are interested in exploring exporting opportunities to America and would like to make contact with these entrepreneurs please get in touch with us.

Over the upcoming months we are coordinating a targeted trade mission to Vietnam, running a national medical conference and facilitating opportunities around major projects.

We are going to see some incredible events take place in additional to our monthly Enterprise Evenings, with the first being held in Toowoomba on 7 February addressing the State of the Region.

Looking forward to working with you this year.

Ali Davenport, CEO
