November Women in Health Event

Join us on Thursday, November 14 for the next Women in Health and the final 2019 event for this series. 

Women play an instrumental role within the healthcare sector in our region, and so the purpose of this particular event series will be to bring Women in health together for networking, career progression, and support. 

On this night we will be hearing from Jane Seawright, Chair of Netball Queensland on transforming lives through netball. 

Jane will also be discussing her own journey, as well as the Diamond Spirit Program. This is a holistic community engagement program that uses netball as a vehicle to empower and educate Indigenous girls and boys in remote and regional communities. 

Netball enriches the lives of women and girls, and Netball Queensland is committed to ensuring that all women have access to netball and a support system that encourages and rewards healthy living and engagement in education. 

Another program Jane will be discussing is 'Walking netball'. This level of activity has been designed so that anyone can play, regardless of age, ability or fitness level. Walking netball encourages participation, friendships, and fun. 

Also speaking will be Bronwyn Thompson, a three-time Olympian in long jump having competed in the Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 Olympics. She holds the Commonwealth and Australian record for the long jump and has been ranked as high as number two in the world. However, Bronwyn has suffered numerous injury setbacks during her career and retired at the end of the 2008/09 Australian domestic season. She will be talking about her journey, challenges and inspirational achievements.
