Oakey Beef Exports

Established in 1956, Oakey Beef Exports is one of Australia’s largest beef processing plants.  Based in Queensland’s Darling Downs region, it employs more than 800 people from Oakey, Toowoomba and the surrounding districts.  Since 1986, Oakey Beef Exports has been a part of the NH Foods Australia group who have rebuilt the facility into an award-winning vertically integrated supply chain business. 

In 2015, Oakey Beef Exports became the first processing plant in Australia to install a Global Water & Energy (GEW) COHRAL (Covered High-Rate Anerobic Lagoon).  This major waste-to-energy initiative demonstrates that environmental responsibility can be a profit, not a cost.  The technology involved results in cleaner wastewater effluent, as well as a reduced fossil fuel environmental footprint and lower energy costs.  The compact GWE COHRAL ^TM plant involved occupies just half the footprint of comparable covered anaerobic lagoons allowing Oakey Beef Exports to achieve a cleaner, greener performance with a stable, predictable and profitable supply of biogas.
