Early bird discount tickets are now available for the 2017 Gladstone Engineering Alliance (GEA) Major Industry Conference to be held on Thursday, October 12.

The GEA Major Industry Conference is highly regarded in the region as the key forum for current and future work opportunities with 2017 marking the 14th year of this significant industry event. In recognition of this milestone and in understanding the current needs of the market in line with the economy, GEA has continued to expand the conference scope.

Now that Gladstone has moved significantly into LNG production and export, and as existing industry in the Region continues to evolve in the ways they operate, the 2017 event will reflect a ‘broader’ view of opportunities, will identify some up and coming ‘breakthrough’ projects, explore diversification for the Region and will place the onus back on the supply chain to think strategically, innovatively and the ‘big picture’.

Our celebrity guest speaker and MC for the day is Dr Keith Suter who is one of Australia's most influential futurists and media commentators in local and global affairs. He has achieved three doctorates and held many strategic leadership roles and is well known across Australia for his frequent appearances on radio and television discussing politics, the economy, and international affairs.

Speakers at the conference represent the region’s major industries, infrastructure providers and planners and leaders in the mineral processing and mining industry. The conference provides a forum for these proponents to showcase their project quantum, timeline and contacts.

Queensland Resources Council CEO Ian McFarlane will be a guest speaker at the 2017 conference who will inform delegates and guests of the current state and future of the Queensland resources industry including current and future projects.

As of June 15, along with QRC CEO Ian McFarlanee, other speakers confirmed for the conference are Adani Carmichael coal mine and rail project head Peter Cardillo, Gladstone Ports Corporation CEO Peter O’Sullivan, South Burnet Coal CEO Jason Elks, Gladstone Foundation chair Tim Griffin (Community Health Precinct project) and Gladstone Area Water Board CEO Jim Grayson .

GEA is pleased to again be working with Principal Sponsors, MIPEC to present the conference.

CEO’s, General Managers and key decision makers are in attendance and represent a diverse supply chain including the likes of Worley Parsons, Walz Group, SKM, Adani, GPC, Thiess, Clough Amec, Hatch, Chiyoda, ConocoPhillips, Downer Group and many more.

The format of this year's conference offers guests, delegates, speakers and sponsors more networking opportunities with the conference now being held in the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre hall rather than the theatre like past events.  The change creates a more comfortable experience for attendees where they can now sit at a table with other attendees and takes notes, network, and order tea of coffee when desired.
