Media Release: Enterprise Evening will look at the state of the region

The state of the region will be a hot topic at TSBE’s next Enterprise Evening on August 1.

Mayor Paul Antonio, in his annual State of the Region address, will outline his vision for the future of the Region and how Council is helping to set the economic conditions that will continue to attract both major public and private investment.

With a $548 million budget and a capital infrastructure program of $211 million, the Toowoomba Regional Council is both a major investor and significant employer in our Region.

Mayor Paul Antonio said, “Toowoomba is a destination of choice. We are experiencing a rapid rise in investment opportunities and steady population growth and our Council has bold ambitions to guide our future prosperity and highly prized lifestyle.”

“Our diverse economy, low unemployment rate, continued economic growth and business confidence are the envy of other regional economies across Australia.”

“Our region’s strength is our people, our natural assets and our natural advantages.”

“This is an attractive area in which to live, study, work and experience our unique natural areas.”

“The great excitement in our Toowoomba Region is that the Olympics opportunity has clearly put on the table for all levels of government the possibility of having a 45 minute region. The transport infrastructure to accomplish this would be vital for our Olympics bid,” said Mayor Antonio.

Also speaking on the evening is Kathryn McKeefry, CEO of St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, who will provide an update on the recently lodged DA that the hospital has completed to undertake further developments of the hospital, including a timetable of works and potential opportunities.

This event will be the first time Aura Holdings, an experienced retirement living operator, will present on their $30 million Toowoomba Golf Club retirement living development at Middle Ridge, which is set to begin construction later in the year.

The Southern Queensland Innovation in Export Hub (SQ Export Hub) will be launched at this Enterprise Evening. This is a new program designed and delivered by TSBE to support the export journey of small to medium-sized businesses operating in the Oil, Gas and Energy Resource sectors and Food & Agribusiness sectors in the region.

All of these projects are adding to the changing face of Toowoomba.

The Enterprise Evening is on August 1 at the Burke & Wills Hotel in Toowoomba.
