Virtual matching event provides invaluable opportunities

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) and the SQ Export Hub hosted a Vietnam virtual meet the buyer event on Tuesday, 8 December.

The event was held in collaboration with growth centre partner FIAL and Austrade Vietnam, with support provided from Trade and Investment Queensland.

This event was facilitated online, with local businesses able to meet Vietnamese importers interested in their products through the online platform.

Twelve local businesses were able to secure one on one meetings as part of the virtual meet the buyer event, with products including dairy, packaged foods, beef, pork, grains and pulses.

One of the participants Riverbend Pork Group secured a number of meetings, with Business Development Manager, Lauren Hamilton, saying the virtual event provided valuable opportunities.

“As Riverbend Pork Group already export a range of products to high-end buyers across Southeast Asia, we were keen to explore what opportunities were available to us in the Vietnamese market,” said Ms Hamilton.

“TSBE have led the way for us to make connections in this region and we are very satisfied with the outcomes from the multiple buyer introductions they facilitated for us.”

TSBE Food Leaders Australia Export Manager Food and Agribusiness, Justin Heaven, said the partnership with FIAL provides vital connections for local businesses looking to export.

“Growing the share of Australian Food in the marketplace is FIAL’s mission in the food sector, supporting collaboration in industry by sharing knowledge, building capability and creating connections,” said Mr Heaven.

“This virtual buyer matching event was a great opportunity for our local businesses to get direct access to Vietnamese importers, provided vital connections that can lead to bigger opportunities.”
